This situation took place a few years ago, but it was such a bad experience that I felt it would be in some folks' best interests for me to provide a review. I was in a car accident and had rotator cuff surgery for a fully torn Supraspinatus and a torn bicep tendon. I also had back injuries and developed severe back pain. An appointment was scheduled with Dr Sanitate. Long story short, for treatment, I was instructed to lie on my stomach, which caused a great deal of pain in my recently operated shoulder. I had just begun PT and had virtually no range of motion in my right arm. Dr Sanitate did acupuncture, barely said anything, then left the room. Long story short, I was left alone in the room for at least 20 minutes, barely able to move because of the needles in my back and the restriction and extreme pain/discomfort in my recently operated shoulder. I could not lift myself. I literally could hardly breathe because of the shoulder pain, and actually started calling for help. Finally, a nurse opened the door and was surprised to find me there. She assisted me in getting up, and I explained what happened. It was, without a doubt, one of the worst medical treatment experiences of my life. I was astounded that the doctor never came back to check on me and that I had been left alone in such pain. It seemed Dr Sanitate took no interest in or had any awareness of how difficult and painful it is for someone who has had major rotator cuff surgery to lie on a hard examination bed face down, let alone not bothering to let anyone know I was in a treatment room. In all fairness, my orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Curzan, was wonderful, and did an excellent job on my surgery.
Therapist would demonstrate an exercise and then leave to sit in front of computer- sometimes even treating multiple patients at the same time. After 5 sessions I noticed that insurance was billed for additional procedures , so I contacted another provider and was told they do not bill for the procedure under my circumstances. Competent partial rehab after surgery, but was overcharged compared to what another physical therapy practice billed for the exact same treatment, so took my business elsewhere.
Terrible. My conditions actually got worse. Eventually they ended up discharging me and told me to continue the exercises. I then went for a second opinion from another doctor and have seen actual results at another physical therapist. Performance Physical Therapy (and Cary Ortho as well) are awful. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
