Great district!

My elementary school was Brassfield Road Elementary School. It was okay, but not great.

The most unhelpful group of folks I've ever encountered. And that's district-wide, from teachers and support staff to principals and beyond. Want to talk to centralized administration? Good luck because it's all automated, have to leave a message but you will never get a return call. The worst school district (of 4) I've ever dealt with. If you're considering this area, beware, or send your kids to private or charter school if you can find a good one.

As a mother (of 4 school aged children) who is new to the area, I truly wanted to love the school district. I have a middle school aged child enrolled in a local (traditional calendar) Christian school, so I asked about having my other children attend the traditional calendar elementary school I'm zoned for. When I called that school, they said they had plenty of room in the grades I needed. When I spoke with the elementary student services, she told me that if I have a child on a traditional calendar, a transfer to the other children to be on a traditional calendar will be approved so a family can be "in sync". After going through the application process, I was shocked to be denied. When I called to ask about it, they had no real reason to give other than the fact that they said calendar alignment is a privilege for public school children only...not if one of your children is in a Christian school. With room clearly available, I simply don't understand and feel very persecuted as a Christian. In speaking further with the administrators, they admitted that the main purpose of the year round schooling is to be able to accommodate 60% more children. The district sadly seems to have issues "at the top" in efficiently allocating, investing, & spending funds. What we need are more schools, not more shuffling of children around to put a band-aid on the problem. I'm sure there are many fine teachers & happy families...but my experience is very lackluster, discriminatory, not prioritizing children above administration, overcrowded, & just an overall mess. If you are new to the area, I would highly recommend saving yourself some time and look into private schooling. That is what we ended up doing and are so grateful we did.

I am going to Millbrook High School for high school. I've heard it's excellent.

I am in seventh grade at Durant Road Middle School. I love it!

Very difficult to deal with. Standard government bureaucracy. Don't waste your time with them.
